Pilgrimage of families of migrant workers to Zarvanytsya has begun


On July 6, 2010, began the fifth pedestrian pilgrimage from Sambir, Lviv region, to Zarvanytsya, Ternopil region, of families of migrant workers. Ukraine's contingent of peacemakers in Kosovo currently consists of 180 soldiers and chaplains of different denominations. The Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church just finished its third mission. Military chaplain Fr. Ihor Fedoryshyn has worked for the past nine months as an officer of the Religious Affairs ministering for the Ukrainian military, which is in the international Kosovo peacekeeping force KFOR.

Auxiliary Bishop Appointed for Lviv Archeparchy of the UGCC


On August 3, 2010, the Office of Major Archbishopric of Kyiv-Halych of Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church reported that the hieromonk Benedict (Valery Aleksiychuk) from the Holy Dormition Univ Monastery was appointed the auxiliary bishop of Lviv Archeparchy. Pope Benedict XVI affirmed the choice and the hirotony (ordination) will be held on September 5. The future bishop receives the Titular See of Germaniciana.

In the Patriarchal Cathedral in Kyiv Began the Celebration of the Day of Baptism of Kyivan Rus
