The Public Committee on Honoring the Memory of the Victims of the Holodomor Genocide of 1932-1933 has appealed to Ukrainian school teachers to continue the tradition of holding Holodomor memory lessons on Novеmber 22-26 ahead of the national Holodomor remembrance day on November 27.

According to the Lviv-based Liberation Movement Research Center, the Ministry of Education has violated its own bylaws and cabinet decision to commemorate the memory of Holodomor victims this year.

The Ministry of Education, headed by pro-Russian Dmytro Tabachnyk, ignored to implement in 2010 the annual Holodomor awareness events in violation of the ministry's bylaw No. 425 of 29/05/2007.

The Yanukovych regime has refused to recognize the Holodomor as a genocide orchestrated by Stalin to exterminate independent Ukrainian farmers and intellectuals in 1932-1933 in order to tighten his grip over the country.

The committee urges Ukrainians to light memory candles at 4 p.m. on November 27 for the victims of the Ukrainian genocide.
