(03 Aug 10 - RV) With only 43 days to go until Pope Benedict XVI's historic state visit to Great Britain, the Bishops of Scotland, England and Wales are finalising details for pilgrims who want to participate in the liturgical ceremonies presided over by the Holy Father.

They have prepared what they are calling the ‘pilgrim passport' containing all the information pilgrims will need to participate in the journey and the celebrations

The Bishops also announced today that the pilgrim contribution for the Hyde Park Vigil has been reduced to 5 pounds sterling and reaffirmed that the contribution for the Masses in Bellahouston and Crofton Park is not ‘a charge to go to mass'.

Mgr. Andrew Summersgill is Papal Visit Co-ordinator. He said the contribution is above all "an act of solidarity", similar to registration fees for events such as World Youth Day.
