LVIV - In the fall of 2009, the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church will hold a series of jubilees: the 40th anniversary of the consecration of the St. Sophia Church in Rome; the 50th anniversary of the consecration of the Pope Institute of St. Pokrova; the 65th anniversary of the death of Metropolitan Andrej (Sheptytskyj); and the 25th anniversary of the death of Patriarch Josyf Slipyj. For these occassions and with the support and blessing of the head of the UGCC Patriarch Lubomyr, a National Pilgrimage to St. Sophia's Church is being organized for October 9-12.

"Wisdom has built itself a house" (Pr. 9.1) was the slogan of Patriarch Josyf Slipyj, who built St. Sophia's Cathedral, the building of the Ukrainian Catholic University in Rome, returned the hospice for pilgrims on Piazza Madonna dei Monti in the central part of Rome to the ownership of the UGCC, and founded the Saint Sophia Association.

The organizers of the pilgrimage invite faithful of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church and all people of good will to take part in the pilgrimage. More detailed information can be found on the link listed below.
