On July 1, 2009, a copy of the Hoshiv miraculous icon of the Mother of God was presented to Holy Father Benedict XVI during the general audience on Saint Peter's Square in the Vatican. It had been brought for the Pope by Fr. Damyan Kastran, OSBM, abbot of the Basilian monastery in the village Hoshiv, located in the Dolyna district of the Ivano-Frankivs'k region. The Pope blessed gold crowns for the icon that thousands of pilgrims to Yasna Hora pray before. Coronation of the icon will take place on August 28, 2009, during the feast of the Dormition of the Holy Mother of God.

In the picturesque region of Prykarpattya, in the village Hoshevo, numerous pilgrims from different corners of Ukraine and the world come to pray to the Holy Mother of God. The faithful, not only Greek-Catholics, come to kneel at the feet of Maria and Her miraculous icon, at Yasna Hora, in order to ask the Celestial Mother to take care of us, Her children, and to plead for Her graces so that we can gain an understanding of the ultimate goal - eternal union with Her Son.
