Ukraine Reps Go to Lourdes for International Faith and Light Meeting

Lourdes, France— Faith and Light, an interreligious movement supporting the developmentally disabled, is having an International General Assembly in Lourdes, France, from 11 to 18 October 2008. Among the approximately 400 representatives from 80 countries will be three Ukrainians.

Zenia Kushpeta, director of the Emmaus Center of the Ukrainian Catholic University (UCU) and founder of the Faith and Light and L’Arche communities in Ukraine, will represent Ukraine on Faith and Lights’s international election commission, which will elect a new international coordinator and members for the international council of the movement.

RISU note: Faith and Light was created in Ukraine in 1992. There are now 28 groups in the country. Members of Faith and Light organize regular meetings, interaction, prayer and celebration, Liturgies together, pilgrimages, and summer camps for persons with developmental disabilities, their families, and young friends.
