Ukrainian Greek Catholic Head calls students to observe law

09-09-2008

Patriarch Lubomyr (Husar), head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC), called students of the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (NaUKMA) to be responsible and mature about observing laws, reports RISU. On the occasion of the beginning of the new academic year he delivered a lecture on 2 September 2008, "The role of law in life," for students of NaUKMA.

According to the patriarch, responsibility before the law is a precondition of real order. "We should try to observe the law because it provides for us and our whole society. Freedom is a result of observing the law," he said.

In Patriarch Lubomyr's opinion, today in Ukraine there is great disorder, but this would be impossible if all people observed the law. "Certainly, you all had a chance to notice that, unfortunately, in our country we don't respect law enough. I am sure that when your generation will be conscious of the necessity of observing the law, we will have many changes for the better in our country," he said.
