Alliance of Christian Intellectual Clubs of Ukraine created

09-09-2008

The declaration of the Alliance of Christian Intellectual Clubs (ACIC) was signed on 28 August 2008. Participants from various regions of Ukraine, the Rivne, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzha, and Kherson regions and Crimea, came to eastern Ukrainian Dnipropetrovsk for the inaugural congress of the organization, reports RISU.

RISU received this information from the academic dean of the master's program of the Institute of Development of Christian Leadership, Oleksandr Shulha, the inspirer and an honorary member of the coordinating council of the ACIC.

The main item on the agenda was signing the constituent declaration of the ACIC and organizing the sixth yearly championship of a "brain ring" of Christian youth clubs of Ukraine. Representatives from the western, central and southern regions of Ukraine joined the coordinating council, which is responsible for preparing the championship.

The basis for the association is many years of experience of carrying out in Ukraine intellectual games among Christian youth. Now, according to the organizers, the hour has come to unite the efforts of various churches in order to rise to a new level of development of the intellectual youth movement.

According to the statutes, the ACIC initiates the organization and conduct of intellectual games, competitions for experts in the Bible, television and radio broadcasts, and also plans to publish a newspaper and other literature to support its work.

The delegates of the congress are sure that carrying out local, regional and national championships of Christian teams is worth continuing. It is important to involve as many youth as possible and not only Christians but also non-Christians, stimulating their interest in Christian history and culture.

The ACIC unites first of all representatives of the Protestant churches of Ukraine. But the leaders of the alliance declare their openness to collaborate with other Christian denominations. "The ACIC works in close connection with the leaders of Christian churches and helps to eliminate interdenominational tensions and build friendly and brotherly interrelation between churches that profess the apostolic creed," stresses the declaration.
