USA Assemblies of God Head Visits Ukraine

Kyiv- On 16 July 2008, John Palmer, the newly-elected general secretary of the Assemblies of God (USA), the biggest Pentecostal group in the United States of America, came to Ukraine. The goal of the visit was to further friendship with the Evangelical Christian church in Ukraine, a long-time partner of the Assemblies of God (USA) in many missionary, social, and educational projects.

Palmer took part in a celebratory ceremony completing the work of the 11th Youth Conference of the All-Ukraine Union of Christians of the Evangelical Faith-Pentecostals (AUU CEFP) and gave a sermon to the youth. After the service, he was informed about the activity and development of the infrastructure of the youth camp Yunist (Youth), the basis of the conference.

On 17 July, at the main office of the AUU CEFP, the honored guest was received by Bishop Mykhailo Panochko, head of the AUU CEFP. He and his assistant bishop, M. Syniuk, informed the guest about the life of the church in Ukraine and the basic direction of the work of the departments of the office. Also present at the meeting was the world-known preacher Slavik Radchuk, who accompanied Palmer during his visit to Ukraine.

"This visit, among others, one of the first after the election of the general secretary, attests to the high level of relations between the sides and indicates the common interest of both in the continuation of mutual work." So commented Pastor Yurii Kulakevych, secretary of the Department of External and International Relations of the AUU CEFP.
