KYIV - Ukrainian deputies supported an initiative regarding the necessity of budget financing in 2010 for the printing of the Fundamentals of Christian Ethics textbooks. Thirteen deputies representing the Motherland of the Yulia Tymoshenko faction, Our Ukraine-National Self-defense faction, and Lytvyn's block, which constitute the ruling coalition in the Supreme Council of Ukraine, have forwarded an address in this regard to Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko. The address was initiated by Volodymyr Stretovych of the Christian Democratic Union. RISU received this information from the Institute of Religious Freedom. RISU's Ukrainian language posted this story on November 23, 2009.

The deputies call the government to include the printing of the textbooks on Christian Ethics in the plan of educational literature to be published at the state expense and to envisage necessary financing in the draft State Budget for 2010.

The deputies reminded Prime Minister Tymoshenko her declaration of July 2009 "to raise spirituality and morality of our nation step by step" and her statement that the government team "holds the principles of raising and reviving the nation's spirituality" in their address.
