Deputy Head of Secretariat of Ukraine’s President Meet Cardinal Lajolo

KYIV-According to a report by the Ukrinform information agency of July 2, 2009, with a reference to the presidential press service, by the instruction of Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko, deputy head of his Secretariat Yurii Bohutskyi met with Giovanni Lajolo, Cardinal President of the Pontifical Commission for Vatican City State. Cardinal Lajolo came to Ukraine by the invitation of the Ukrainian Roman Catholic and Greek Catholic churches.
Lajolo spoke highly about the results of Yushchenko's recent official visit to the Vatican, including his meeting with Pope Benedict XVI, and expressed satisfaction with in the current relations between Ukraine and the Vatican.
The parties discussed the current public and religious situation in Ukraine, as well as development perspectives in church-state relations.
