Eighty Catholic priests headed by the Archbishop of Milan on pilgrimage to Russia

27-08-2008

Vladimir, August 27, Interfax - Group of 80 Catholic priests headed by Archbishop of Milan Cardinal Dionigi Tettamanzi travels along Russian cities.

Clerics have recently attended the mess in the Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Vladimir. They also plan to visit Suzdal and Sergiyev Posad, the Vladimir TV has reported.

"Liturgy is the place where heaven unites with earth and here we in contact with Orthodox brothers feel how important it is to feel close to God when the world is so far from Him," the cardinal said in his interview.

Tettamanzi visited Moscow in October 2006. Then he met with Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia and lamented over the facts of excessive missionary activities of Catholics in Russia in the 1990s.

"We wanted to repeat the experience I had two years ago when I first got acquainted with your tradition which is so rich and so Christian," the Archbishop of Milan said during his current trip.
