VINNYTSIA-On 7-8 June, 2009, the Apostolic Nuncio in Ukraine, Archbishop Ivan Yurkovich, visited two parishes of the Bar Deanery of Kamianets-Podilskyi Diocese of the Roman Catholic Church and a local women's monastery of the Holy Trinity of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP), where he discussed the relations between the Catholics and Orthodox in the Vinnytsia region with Archbishop Symeon (Shostatskyi) of Vinnytsia and Mohyliv-Podilskyi.

According to a report from the Catholic Media Center, the nuncio celebrated a mass in the Church of St. Anna in Bar and participated in the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the priestly service of the Auxiliary Bishop Leon Malyi of the Lviv Archdiocese.

In addition to the local parishioners, the mass was attended by faithful from neighboring parishes, from the Kherson and Lviv Archdiocese of the Roman Catholic Church. In the beginning the nuncio read out a greeting address of the Pope Benedict XVI to Bishop Leon Malyi.

Archbishop Symeon (Shostatskyi) of Vinnytsia and Mohyliv-Podilskyi showed the monastery to the visitor and told him about its history and modern life. The nuncio paid special attention to the Brailiv-Chenstokhov Icon of the Mother of God, which is considered one of the main shrines of the Podillia region and is a copy of the wonder-working Polish Chenstokhov icon venerated both by the Orthodox and Catholics.
