Jubilee Cross Blessed in Fastiv

On August 17, 2008, the religious community of St. Demetrius the Great Martyr of the city of Fastiv celebrated the 1020th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus'-Ukraine. On this occasion Most Rev. Bohdan (Dzyirakh), Auxiliary Bishop of the Archeparchy of Kyiv, came to Fastiv. The celebration started with a pontifical Divine Liturgy. In his speech the Bishop greeted all present on the anniversary of the Baptism of Rus'-Ukraine and expressed the deep conviction that the faithful of the parish of Fastiv will incarnate in life the vows which they took at baptism and renewed during the celebration.
After the Liturgy all went in procession to the site where they were to place a jubilee cross. A procession with the cross passed through the whole city. Arriving at the site, the bishop blessed the cross and expressed his wish that it become a guardian for all the inhabitants of Fastiv.
It should be noted that also taking part in the celebrations were the pastor and parishioners of the religious community of the Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of God of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church.
