Social Pedagogy Practicum-Seminar Held in Truskavets’

On July 22-31, 2008, in Truskavets', a social pedagogy practicum and seminar, conducted by the Ukrainian Catholic University with the assistance of the Administration of Youth, Family, and Sports of the Department of Humanitarian Policy of the Lviv City Council, was held.
"Picturesque surroundings, fresh air and the good mood of the youth became an atmosphere in which workers of the Ukrainian Catholic University had recreation together with the participants of the seminar on themes of Christian values." So said Fr. Bohdan Tymchyshyn.
Forty teenagers were divided into four age-groups. In groups, together with the leaders, the youth considered the importance of Christian values and their presence in the culture and traditions of the Ukrainian people. In addition to themes planned in the program, teenagers also discussed difficulties and current questions which are characteristic for their age. Each was able to receive answers and explanations, and also the opinion of persons of the same age about some problems characteristic for youth today.
The participants had the possibility to talk individually with the leaders and among themselves. In their free time campers were engaged in sports and games, held competitions, thematic evenings, and there was the possibility to get to know each other and to experience adventures together.
"Excursions in interesting historical places and campfires on the bank of a mountain river enriched young men and women with new knowledge and indelible impressions about the time conducted together in a community of persons of the same age, which have now become for them a community of friends joined around Christ and His teaching." So Fr. Bohdan said at the completion.
