LVIV-On 24 May, 2009, the ceremony of consecration of a Greek Catholic Chapel of St. Luigi Orione and an oratory (building for children's and youth activities) was held. The community of the Orionist monks from Italy began its activity in Lviv with the blessing of the head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC) in 2002. Their activity is focused on work with children, youth, and disabled.

The consecration was administered by Archbishop Ihor (Vozniak) of Lviv of the UGCC. Then a liturgy was celebrated by him in concelebration with the bishop of Ukrainians in Argentina, Mylhailo (Mykytsei) of the Orionist Association, the General Father Superior of the Orionist Association, Fr. Flavio Pelozo from Rome, and others. Clergymen and lay people from Italy were also present.

In his sermon, Archbishop Ihor called the faithful to assist the spiritual work of the Orionist association, which for some time is to be carried out in the chapel and where later a large spiritual center is to be built. The archbishop thanked the father superior of the chapel, Fr. Egidio Montanari, for the construction and active pastoral work.

After the liturgy, an address of the head of UGCC, Patriarch Lubomyr (Husar), was read. Bishop Mykhailo (Mykytsei) shared his recollections of entering the association and talked about the necessity of the activity of the Orionists in Ukraine. In conclusion, Fr. Pelozo greeted those present and talked about the great spiritual gifts of the founder of the association, St. Luigi Orione, who was beatified 5 years ago by John Paul II.

Fr. Flavio Pelozo passed the relics of St. Luigi Orione to Archbishop Ihor.
