Military Building in Ivano-Frankivsk Transferred to Greek Catholics for School

08.08.2008, [16:01] // Church-state relations // -Ivano-Frankivsk - During a business trip to the western Ukraine's Ivan-Frankivsk Region, Minister of Security Yurii Yekhanurov and other officials signed a joint decision about the removal of Ivano-Frankivsk regional and city military commissariats from the building on 11 Shevchenko Street. The freed space will now be used for an educational school of three levels run by the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC). unian.net posted the news on 7 August 2008.

The school, St. Basil the Great Catholic School, is operated by the Ivano-Frankivsk Eparchial Administration of the UGCC.

The document was signed in fulfillment of a decision of the Ivano-Frankivsk regional government of 2 March 2006, "About the transfer of an administrative building."

According to information from the Ivano-Frankivsk Eparchy of the UGCC, the space belonged to the church until 1939.
